Brandi Morgan Raupp
East Coast Capture
With that big question way back when they are getting you ready to think about what you want to be when you grow up, “What elective classes would you like to take in High School?” Looking at the list I knew I wanted to be and do something different everyday and a photography class was the one thing on the list of options that really got my attention.
After that first class my freshman year, I knew this was going to be something I would love. My photography instructor asked me to assist on a few events and I could see my self doing his for a career. I was lucky to have one of the top photography programs in the country near me and after high school I knew that was where I belonged. With a degree in Commercial Photography, I began my career in NASCAR photography and the furniture industry, which were both big for the photography business in NC. After realizing I was much more suited for photographing people, I headed to Nashville and started in the portrait world.
I photographed high school seniors, managed and trained nationally for a large portrait company, for 10 years then relocated to New England with my husband and our fish Fred. Moving across the country and having to start over makes you evaluate where you really want your career to go and grow. Knowing I wanted to start a business and grow it into something that will give school photography a fresh new face, I decided to start a Day Care/ Preschool photography business. Learning sales and how to build a growing business from scratch was no easy task and each season takes on new challenges as we grow. But going to “work” everyday, making children laugh and families happy is where I have found my calling. I know everyday, even the toughest days, this was what I was meant to do. I continue to teach and train for the PPA and I hope to inspire photographers to go where their photography takes them. For me, at least, it was not anything like I once thought it would be, but better.
