Color Management: Introduction to Managing Color in Photography
This presentation introduces the essential principles of color management for photographers who want more predictable, consistent, and professional results. The session will explain why calibrated monitors, accurate white balance, standardized color references, ICC profiles, soft proofing, and proper output settings matter throughout the workflow—from camera capture to editing, printing, projection, and web delivery. It will also address when simple white balance is sufficient for achieving believable color, and when true color matching may be critical for product photography, artwork reproduction, fashion, branding, documentation, multi-camera workflows, and professional printing. The goal is to help photographers reduce guesswork, improve monitor-to-print consistency, maintain accurate skin tones and brand colors, and deliver files that look right across different devices and media.
