Great Masters of 19th Century Photography

by Monique Ridet

Monique Ridet, a native from France who lives near Bedford, Pennsylvania, has been passionate about photography since she was a teenager. Her many years spent working for international organizations in Europe and the US, along with her extensive travels, have informed and stimulated her natural interest for world cultures, art, history, and human accomplishments. Her creative process in photography and other art forms is intimately connected to that experience. The program she will be presenting in October is focused on the Great Masters of 19th Century Photography—a century that Monique is especially passionate about not only for the richness and complexity of its photographic discoveries and processes, but also for the human stories behind the history, and the debt of gratitude that we owe to all the pioneer photographers who ventured into the unknown in order to materialize their vision and leave us an enduring legacy.

Storytelling

Finding Your Perspective With Photoshop

by Dana Rose

Dana Rose

Rose Designs Fine Art Portraiture

For our FEBRUARY MEMBER MEETING, we are excited to have Dana Rose present her program, STORYTELLING: Finding Your Perspective with Photoshop.

Dana is a photographer located in Alvord, Iowa – a tiny town in the far northwest corner of the state. Her portraits of families, children and seniors have a unique, storytelling style. Dana believes that the art in your home should be something you connect to. What better way to create happiness in your home than to feature art of your family and children?

Dana’s studio is in the front portion of her home that she shares with her husband and two children. Dana earned an associates degree in graphic communications in 2003 and worked as a graphic designer building photo albums, retouching images, designing advertising and other creative work for other studios. Dana discovered her love of photography during this time and after moving back to her childhood town opened her studio in 2011. She has received art and photography awards on the state and national levels.

A few of her most recent achievements are having 5 images in the 2021 Grand Imaging Awards finalist and being on Team USA with an image in the Illustrative category for the World Photographic Cup.

Dana believes that there are many different ways to tell a story and many ways to utilize photoshop as a tool to tell those stories. The trick is learning which way makes the most sense to YOU and the story you want to tell.

During this presentation, we’ll cover how to come up with ideas, creating an outline and putting together a rough draft that will make it easier to follow through with your idea. Along with tips and tricks in photoshop that will help you bring your ideas into reality.

Please plan to join us on Zoom.
