Making Connections:

Building Community to Build Your Craft

In this presentation, Cindy Karchner will share how connection, collaboration, and creative curiosity have shaped her journey as a fine art photographer. Drawing from her experience transitioning from a long career in human resources to a renewed focus on photography, Cindy will discuss how involvement in photography groups, artist communities, workshops, and local markets has helped her strengthen both her craft and her creative confidence.

Through examples from her work in nature, flowers, water, seascapes, hummingbirds, and artist collaborations, Cindy will explore how photographers can find inspiration beyond traditional photographic circles and use those relationships to expand their artistic voice. She will also address practical approaches to building visibility, including social media, in- person selling, partnerships with local artists, and creating accessible products that help connect photography with a broader audience.

Attendees will come away with a clearer understanding of how community engagement can support artistic growth, open new opportunities, and make photography a more meaningful and sustainable creative practice.

About Cindy Karchner

Cindy Karchner is a fine art photographer whose work celebrates the beauty of nature through flowers, landscapes, abstracts, and expressive portraiture. Her images blend mindfulness, emotion, and storytelling, often incorporating natural elements to create art that resonates with viewers.

A Certified Professional Photographer (CPP), Cindy holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Bloomsburg University with studies in photography, printmaking, and art history. She is a passionate lifelong learner who continually explores new techniques and creative approaches to her craft.

In November 2025, Cindy fulfilled a longtime dream by opening Art of the Woman Fine Art Gallery and Gifts in Emmaus, Pennsylvania. Through the gallery, she supports and showcases the work of local women artists, artisans, and entrepreneurs.

Whether capturing a fleeting moment or creating an artistic vision, Cindy's goal is to share the wonder she experiences behind the camera and inspire others to see beauty in the world around them.
