First Aid for Photographers
presented by David Foltz NR-AEMT, AHA-I, SB-I, BFA, M. Photog. Cr., FP-VPPA, MPA-PPAofPA
Why is it important for a photographer to have basic first aid skills?
Photographers often find themselves in remote or unfamiliar locations and need to be able to respond quickly and effectively to unexpected, potentially dangerous situations. Having basic first aid skills can help photographers ensure the safety of themselves and their subjects. Knowing how to administer basic first aid can help prevent minor injuries from becoming major ones, and it can help photographers be prepared to react appropriately if an emergency arises. Having basic first aid knowledge can also give photographers the peace of mind to focus on getting the perfect shot without worrying about potential safety issues.
David Foltz is a high school senior portrait and sports photographer based in Luray, VA. He received his Photographic Craftsman Degree with PPA in 2022. He was a 2021 Team USA member, 2021 Pennsylvania Image Maker of the Year, 2020 & 2023 Top Ten Photographers of Virginia, along with numerous awards in VPPA, PPAofPA, NJPPA, PPSGW, & PPWV. In 2021 he was brought onto the PPAofPA Social Media Committee to help the organization further its inclusion program and is now currently the Marketing Chairperson. David is an active competitor in state print competitions and IPC. Thanks to his Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree from The Art Institute of Washington, David has a large skill set that helps him diversify his range of subjects and environments and allows him to help others achieve success in all fields. When David is not in the studio or out on a location photo shoot, you can find him in the back of an ambulance volunteering as a Nationally Registered Advance EMT.
