Educational Program PPA of PA: Copyright Issues Facing Professional Photographers
Open to members and non-members. Attend in person or register to receive Zoom access.
Professional photographers generally understand that their images are protected by copyright, but the practical application of those rights can become complicated in day-to-day business. Questions often arise around client usage, licensing language, work-for-hire claims, social media use, image theft, registration, enforcement, and how to preserve the value of photographic work in an environment where images are easily copied, shared, altered, and republished.
In this presentation, Charles A. Hooker of Hooker & Habib, P.C. will address copyright issues from the perspective of working professional photographers. The program will move beyond a basic introduction to copyright and focus on practical concerns photographers face when creating, selling, licensing, delivering, and protecting their images. Topics may include copyright ownership, registration strategy, usage rights, client agreements, online infringement, unauthorized commercial use, and steps photographers can take to reduce risk and strengthen their position when disputes arise.
The session is intended to help photographers refine their understanding of copyright as a business asset, improve communication with clients, and make more informed decisions about protecting and monetizing their creative work.
The program is presented by Charles A. Hooker.
